Former Berlin Senator for Economic Affairs Harald Wolf (Die Linke) is currently working with others in the party to prepare the left for possible exploratory talks with the SPD and the Greens after the federal election.
As can be learned from the party, when comparing the election programs, possible compromise options and red lines are to be compiled in dossiers, which are intended to help the possible exploratory team in the talks.
The actual negotiating group should be set up by the party executive.
The Thuringian Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow or the Bremen parliamentary group leader Sofia Leonidakis are named as possible negotiators.
Both bring experience from their federal states, in which the left lead the government or are involved in it.
They also represent the two most influential currents within the left, which would lead to a broad consensus within the party.
Most recently, several polls showed a majority in favor of a coalition of the SPD, the Greens and the Left, with the Social Democrats and the Greens distancing themselves from this option, but not explicitly ruling it out.
The most delicate sticking point for a coalition is foreign and security policy.
