Serious accident at sea: After a fire on their shrimp trawler, two fishermen were injured and rescued from the North Sea during the night.
According to the police, the two men fled to the ship's life raft late Friday evening.
Previously, for unknown reasons, a fire had broken out in the engine room of their wooden cutter.
A sea rescue helicopter that happened to be in the vicinity was alerted and discovered the two men.
According to the information, the fishermen suffered severe injuries and were taken to a hospital in Heide. According to the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS), the accident occurred in the North Frisian Wadden Sea between the Halligen Langeness and Hooge. The Husum water police are now investigating the cause of the fire.
