And finally it was his turn.
After having sounded many times as a possible Minister of Education,
Jaime Perczyk was finally elected as the head of that portfolio
and has a huge challenge ahead given the educational crisis he is receiving.
Perczyk is not new in this area: he
has been linked to the Ministry of Education for years,
through different positions he held in both the Cristina Kirchner and Alberto Fernández governments.
Until this Friday he was the secretary of University Policies.
Politically he is associated with the most Kirchnerist sector
of the educational area.
As soon as he was appointed by President Fernández, Perczyk spoke with
Clarín
and left some definitions.
“We are going to
regain normality
, go towards an educational normality.
We have to
recover more and more face-to-face spaces, at all levels
.
Also in the university ”, said the new minister.
Regarding the challenge posed by the estimated 1 million students who dropped out of school as a result of the long interruption of classes, Perczyk was blunt.
“
Let's go find them, one by one
.
We are going to work with the municipalities.
We are going to evaluate the plans that have been made so far in this regard, but the objective will be to look for them one by one ”, he remarked.
Regarding the management he receives from former Minister Nicolás Trotta, Perczyk describes it as "very difficult years, with
very complicated results
."
Jaime Perczyk is a very recognized person in the field of Peronist university politics.
He was the first rector of the National University of Hurlingham (UNAHUR), one of the suburban universities created during the last Cristina government, within the district commanded by “Juanchi” Zabaleta.
As rector of that university, he managed the National Interuniversity Council (CIN) in 2018.
This body is led alternately, one year by Peronism and another by reformism.
Perczyk led it for Peronism and, in general, all the rectors speak well of his management.
When Alberto Fernández came to power, there were two candidates for the ministry: Nicolás Trotta and Jaime Perczyk.
Finally the president chose Trotta and Perczyk was in charge of the secretary of University Policies.
