Current recall: These noodles are affected
Alnatura, manufacturer of organic food, announced that "ergot alkaloids", metabolic products of certain mushrooms, had been discovered in a batch of pasta. For this reason, the "Alnatura spelled wholemeal spaghetti" with the best before date 02/26/2023 are being recalled as a precaution. This is reported by the consumer portal Produktwarnung.eu.
Further best-before dates or other Alnatura pasta types are not affected by the recall, it said.
The goods have already been withdrawn from the sale.
Customers should urgently heed the product warning and not consume the affected noodle item.
Ergot alkaloids can lead to health problems and, among other things, be life-threatening.
Only recently there was a recall of pasta due to toxic ingredients. * In addition, carcinogenic substances were found in another pasta article and a recall * was ordered.

After consuming even small amounts of ergot alkaloid, symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, muscle contractions and headaches, but also acute cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure and uterine bleeding can be triggered.
For this reason, effects that affect reproduction, such as miscarriages or lower birth weights, can also occur.
If large amounts have been consumed, circulatory disorders of the blood vessels, especially the heart muscle, are possible.
These can be accompanied by hallucinations, seizures, sensory disturbances and paralysis and in the worst case lead to death after respiratory or cardiac arrest.
As a precaution, a doctor should be consulted if the symptoms are mild.

Pasta on call: What consumers can do
Consumers can bring the pasta affected back to the respective market with the above-mentioned best before date and receive a replacement.
According to the consumer portal, the manufacturer Alnatura provides end customers with “extensive and unconditional information on various levels of information”.
It can be guaranteed that as many end users as possible will also receive this warning.
