An agreement to enhance scientific cooperation between the Ministry of Education and ACSAD

Damascus, SANA- The Ministry of Education and the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands signed a contract

The Ministry of Education and the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Areas and Arid Lands (ACSAD) signed today an agreement to enhance scientific and research cooperation and exchange experiences and information between the two sides.

The agreement stipulates that ACSAD provide scientific and technical expertise to the experience of rural schools, apply sustainable development methods, and build positive attitudes among learners towards the safety of nature, as well as technical support in the field of building curricula that research in environmental, animal, plant and climate sciences, and benefit from ACSAD’s specialized laboratories for the development of school garden cultivation. And joint organization of field studies, seminars and conferences.

The agreement also includes the Ministry of Education's use of ACSAD experts in the fields of preparing vegetation cover maps, land and water maps, the presence of livestock, and the application of remote sensing techniques.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, stressed the importance of the agreement, which establishes practical scientific cooperation with the organization in various fields, as well as the fact that it guarantees all the general goals put forward by the United Nations to preserve the environment, expressing his hope to follow up the coordination meetings to put the agreement into effect.

In turn, ACSAD Director General, Dr. Nasr El-Din El-Obeid, expressed the organization's readiness to provide technical and research expertise and put it at the service of the Ministry of Education and its fields of work.
