(ANSA) - MADRID, SEPTEMBER 19 - At least 5,000 people are being evacuated from their homes in La Palma, Canary Island where a volcanic eruption is underway. The mediaiberians report it. The Spanish Civil Guard has announced that in the next few hours there could be 10,000 displaced persons.
Magma and other pyroclastic material continues to escape from the Cumbre Vieja volcano; the authorities have asked not to approach the area of the eruption, asking the population of the areas at risk of La Palma to protect themselves from the ash and to close themselves at home in case it falls nearby.
