Sexion d'Assaut fans see the end of the tunnel.
Eight years after their last group appearance, the group is expected to make their comeback very soon.
In an interview with GQ, Gims promised a new title "
in the coming weeks
".
A great comeback where no one will be missed: “
It's a signal, it's about telling people that we are here, that we are back.
And everyone in the band will be there, bar none.
"
At the end of 2020, the group announced a tour for fall 2021, finally postponed to spring 2022. On this occasion, several members announced “
the return of kings
”, which many saw as the title of the comeback album. for the group.
The tour and a possible album were seriously questioned last June, when Gims announced his stop of rap, to concentrate on singing, a field where he excels.
In 2010, the seven members of the group, all from the Paris region, enjoyed enormous success from the first album
L'École des points vitaux
. In 2012, the group confirmed with
L'Apogée
, which sold a million copies. The following year, however, several members decided to pause their projects with the group to continue solo. Since then, Gims is by far the most popular, selling six million albums alone. A new deal to take on, years after leaving each other: “
We have to manage to make our different schedules fit together, which is not always easy. But we always manage to send each other songs, to discuss our music, to ask each other for opinions, for advice… A bit like before.
"
Internationally
In his confidences to GQ, Gims also returned to certain episodes of his new life as a superstar, capable of being exported internationally.
In 2018, he released a track with rap legend Lil Wayne.
The discovery of another world for him:
“He's really nice, but he's way too far away from us in his head.
His lifestyle has nothing to do with ours.
But he came, he was square, he did his thing.
(...) He arrives, he makes his head verse, I took my photo with him, and he left.
It's Batman, really. ”
In addition to this new track with the group of his beginnings, the rapper announced the upcoming release of several collaborations with stars of American hip-hop: “
I have other tracks with Americans who are on fire.
For example, I recorded a song with Quavo, another with Lil 'Uzi Vert, and a third with Chris Brown
. ”
A rare diversification for the one known for his talents as a singer.
In reverse of his statements of last June, he promises that his love for rap is still intact: “
I will never let go of the urban, I will never let go of the binks, the ghetto.
It's a foundation for me.
I'll never be able to leave that behind
. ”
