"We cannot do as well as we would like for lack of resources," laments Céline Grisot, director of the care center for wild animals Faune Alfort. Overloaded and precarious, most of the care centers for wild animals in France operate just in time. In the country, care centers for wild animals are also suffering from the Covid-19 crisis. In May 2021, the Ministry of Ecological Transition announced for the first time the implementation of exceptional aid of 5,000 euros for each certified center. Aid deemed insufficient by the President of the network of wildlife care centers Jean-François Courreau.
“We are a bit of a victim of our success.
Lots of people know us now and bring us animals (…) When the care center was created in 1993, there were two hundred animals a year.
Now we welcome 7000 a year and it continues to rise!
We take 20% more each time, so we have to push the walls, ”breathes Céline Grisot.
