The topic of “pensions” also plays an important role in this year's general election.

You can find out which practical tips make early retirement possible here.

Olaf Scholz promises that the pension level and retirement age will remain stable well beyond 2025. But whether this is realistic remains questionable, because it is already becoming apparent: Millions of people are at risk of old-age poverty despite full-time jobs. Meanwhile, the left is calling for reform, as new figures from the Ministry of Labor show that there is an enormous mismatch between the statutory pension and the pension entitlements of civil servants.

In addition, the Left Party wants to make retirement possible for everyone at 65, and even with more money.

For the FDP it should be a share pension based on the Scandinavian model.

This is to be financed from part of the money that has so far been paid into the statutory pension.

The head of the German pension insurance, Gundula Roßbach, opened the Funke media group at the same time that

she expects a noticeable increase in retirement benefits in 2022 *.

However, it is still unclear how large the pension increase will be.

82 percent of retirees receive less than 1,500 euros per month

But the current situation gives many retirees a headache,

because 82 percent of statutory pensions amount to less than 1,500 euros.

It works better for civil servants

- 95.1 percent of pensions for federal civil servants are over 1,500 euros.

This is reported by the

editorial network Germany (RND)

, citing a response from the Federal Ministry of Labor to a request from the left.

With an innovative concept, financial expert Hermann Josef-Tenhagen wants to show

how future retirees can best prepare for (early) retirement.

The regular old-age pension briefly explained:

According to the portal

deutsche-rentenversicherung.de

, the regular old-age pension is accessible to almost everyone who has worked or raised children.

A minimum of five years of insurance (also known as a waiting period) and a certain age are sufficient.

The age limit in question has risen in stages from 65 to 67 years since 2012 due to the longer life expectancy.

With the higher retirement age, the legislature wants to ensure that the contributions remain affordable for the younger generation.

Early retirement: this is how it works

The statutory pension is determined by a point system.

If you pay diligently throughout your professional life and thus collect points, you will have a better monthly pension in old age. Of course, whether you get more pension together also depends on how long you have lived. In order to obtain the aforementioned pension points, you have to pay in the amounts due for an average income (currently around 3,280 euros gross per month in the East) with your employer. One pension point is currently worth 34.19 euros in the west and 33.47 euros in the east.

Your pension can decrease at any time due to various factors.

These include a lower income, prolonged unemployment or part-time work.

You may now realize that you will not be able to get by with your statutory pension in old age.

Theoretically, to counteract this, you can

also take out a company pension, a Riester contract or a Rürup contract and / or save with an ETF fund savings plan.

Tip from the financial expert: This is how you retire earlier

Financial expert Hermann Josef-Tenhagen has simple advice on how to get an earlier retirement date.

To do this, explain to the pension insurance company that you want to retire earlier.

As a result, the pension insurance will recalculate your pension payments.

From your 50th birthday you can also pay into the pension insurance.

If you do not retire earlier, but continue to work, this will increase your pension quite a bit, as the portal mdr.de informs.
