A manufacturer from Germany informs about a current recall of several sweets.
There is a health risk.
Kassel - If something goes wrong in production and food and products can pose a risk to consumers, a recall * is started.
Because of the strong consumer protection, this happens more often in Germany.
A current recall * concerns several sweets - the manufacturer from Glinde in Schleswig-Holstein warns against consumption.

Recall of sweets: Danger discovered in additives
This time the company "AsRopa Food GmbH" from Berlin was asked by the consumer protection office to recall some of its products.
The reason: Several of the sweets sold are said to contain additives that are not suitable for consumption.
According to the manufacturer, there is even a risk of choking on the candy.

The additives complained of are the vegetable gelling or thickening agent carrageenan (E407) and the additive carob gum (E410).
Because a toxic substance was found, the latter even led to a real wave of recall * in several European countries.

Sweets on call: There is a risk of suffocation
AsRopa Food GmbH is taking two of its sweets out of sale due to the complaints.
The importer of Asian sweets had already started a recall in June 2020, the reason at that time was a possible risk of suffocation.
These products are affected by the recall in Germany:

Recall of sweets: Risk of cancer from ethylene oxide
The manufacturer is currently warning due to the risk of suffocation from the two additives mentioned. However, in products with locust bean gum, the agent ethylene oxide is often detected in too high a proportion. Due to ethylene oxide, there are frequent product recalls in Germany - most recently there have been numerous recalls due to a contaminated batch from Turkey. For example, popular types of ice cream * but also pasta * were affected.
At Edeka *, Marktkauf and Netto, four popular desserts were recently recalled because of excessive exposure to ethylene oxide and Lidl * recently launched a recall because the toxin was discovered in several types of cheese *.
Ethylene oxide is considered carcinogenic and has been banned in Germany since 1981.
In other countries, however, the gaseous chemical is still in use and is used as a pesticide.
The affected sweets Yuki & Love are sold in Germany at Kaufland, among others.
More often, however, they can be found in the assortment of Asian supermarkets.
The manufacturer's appeal is: "Please bring the product back".
Consumers should be reimbursed the price at the checkout.
