Coronavirus in Argentina: 2,162 new cases and another 90 deaths confirmed in the last 24 hours


It was reported by the Ministry of Health in the health part of this Monday. A new batch of vaccines has arrived from Sinopharm.

After the lowest number of infections since June 2020 was recorded over the weekend, this Monday the Government updated the official statistics of the pandemic in Argentina.

In the last 24 hours,

2,162 new cases

and another

90 deaths

from coronavirus were reported.

In this way, the country reached




and 114,518 deaths due to the health crisis unleashed by covid-19.

There are currently 

27,719 patients with

the disease, of which 

1,440 are admitted to intensive care


The occupancy of critical beds is 


nationwide (42.7% in the AMBA).

All these numbers come from the health part published this afternoon by the Ministry of Health, based on the data provided by the provinces.

As usual, the information uploaded between 15 on Sunday and the same time today was incorporated.

After the drop in infections, the number of patients in intensive care reached the lowest point in a year.

After 15 consecutive weeks with declining infections, the country is going through the lowest point of the contagion curve since the start of the first wave.

This represented

a monthly drop of 70%

: on August 19 the average was 7,227 new infections per day.

Despite this slowdown, Argentina ranks


among the countries with the highest number of positive cases detected throughout the pandemic.

Meanwhile, it ranks


among those with the most fatalities registered, according to the Worldometers site.

The cases of the day

For the 12th consecutive day, this Monday the number of tests carried out was not published, which makes it impossible to calculate the positivity rate;

that is, the number of patients swabbed who have the virus.

The health portfolio attributes this situation to "a system error between the SNVS (National Health Surveillance System) base and the impact on the dashboard that does not allow the day's tests to be viewed".

Vaccines arrived

Around 6.30 today a Lufthansa Cargo flight arrived with a new shipment of vaccines from Sinopharm.

It is about

1,336,000 doses

, which were added to the 1,536,000 arrivals on Saturday.

So far Argentina has

63,249,730 sera

, of which 


are from the Chinese laboratory. 

Between Saturday and Monday, 2,872,000 doses of Sinopharm arrived in Argentina.

Added to these are

17,180,320 Sputnik V

: 10,955,280 for component 1 (1,179,625 were packaged in Argentina) and 6,225,040 for component 2 (1,765,875 formulated here).

The applications

According to the data released to the Public Vaccination Monitor, up to this morning 53,496,589 doses had been distributed to the provinces, of which

Volunteers, with certificate

All those who have volunteered to test coronavirus vaccines authorized for use in Argentina may request the registration of their application with the Ministry of Health through the Mi Argentina application.

The Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, signed Resolution 2540/2021 which is addressed to "people who reside in the territory of the Argentine Republic, who have accessed in the framework of a clinical trial approved by the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Tecnología Médica (ANMAT), to a vaccine against Covid-19 authorized for use or registered in Argentina or prequalified by the World Health Organization (WHO) ".

After the registration is validated, the volunteers will be able to have the COVID 19 Vaccination Certificate, available in the Citizen's Digital Profile of the "My Argentina" platform, within the "My Health" section.

The digital credential of the My Argentina application is the official document for those who travel abroad to certify the vaccination against the coronavirus and also to travel around the country.
