The end of the fourth wave of coronavirus continues to decline slowly, especially in metropolitan France.

While the milestone of 50 million French people having received a first dose of vaccine has just been reached, a wave of optimism could follow this fourth epidemic wave which seems to be coming to an end.

Asked in the columns of the Parisian this Sunday, the Minister of Solidarity and Health, Olivier Véran, explained that there were "reasons to hope" that the worst of the crisis has passed.

"Vaccination coverage is exceptional in our country: soon 9 eligible French people out of 10 will be vaccinated (...) Contamination drops by 30% per week, even if every day 8,000 people on average are still infected", he recalled, figures to support.

Precisely, according to data from Public Health France on Monday, the downward trend seems to continue.

Even if the figures reported the day after the weekends can be disturbed by the latter.

Nevertheless, there is a continuous decline in new hospital admissions due to the coronavirus.

This Monday, 373 were identified against 446 seven days ago.

Thus, the beds are gradually freeing with 9,986 people hospitalized for Covid-19 a week ago and 8,845 this Monday.

However, the relaxation of barrier gestures, the threat of a new variant or a potential effect of the start of the school year and the return to closed environments (due to weather conditions) continue to threaten the trend of the epidemic.

The situation is also very different according to the French departments.

In addition to the overseas territories still very affected and behind in vaccination compared to the metropolis, the departments around the Mediterranean are still with incidence rates and hospital pressures above the national average.

As for vaccination, if it has slowed down enormously, the injection campaign is continuing slowly.

"We have exceeded the 69% of students aged 12-17 who have already had a first injection," assured, on Monday, the Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Banquer during a visit to a college in the 'Oise.

At the same time, on the basis of a clinical trial conducted on 2,268 children aged 5 to 11 years, Pfizer assures that its vaccine is "well tolerated" and that it offers a "robust" immune response in this age group. 'age.
