Barely 155,000 unions were celebrated in 2020, including
“5,000 between people of the same sex”
, according to the demographic report of INSEE, which notes a fall of 31% compared to the previous year.
The National Institute of Statistics recalls that
"celebrations were prohibited during the first confinement"
to then be authorized but with many limitations.
Never has nuptiality fallen so low since 1915, when the Great War mobilized 8 million French soldiers and only 88,000 unions had been registered that year.
