"I am extremely happy - said Antonio Monda - to inaugurate the sixteenth edition of the Rome Film Fest with The Eyes of Tammy Faye, a story that really took place in America, which reveals a truth that is valid in every part of the world: behind every moralist there are always personalities and complex circumstances. Brilliantly directed by Michael Showalter, it is beautifully interpreted by all the performers, on whom stands an extraordinary and unforgettable JessicaChastain ".
The film, based on a true story, tells the extraordinary rise, fall and redemption of TV predictor Tammy FayeBakker, played by Jessica Chastain. Between the seventies and eighties, Tammy Faye and her husband Jim Bakker (Andrew Garfield) founded the most important US religious television network, built a large amusement park and achieved success thanks to their message of love, benevolence and prosperity. Tammy Faye became a legend for her eyelashes, her singing and her enthusiasm for welcoming people from all walks of life. Over the years, however, financial irregularities, escandal rivalries overthrew that carefully constructed multimillion-dollar empire. (HANDLE).
