Mattarella arrived in Pizzo, inaugurates the school year

The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, arrived in Pizzo Calabro, at the Nautical Technical Institute, where he will participate, together with the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi, in the national ceremony for the inauguration of the school year. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - PIZZO, 20 SEPTEMBER - The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has arrived in Pizzo Calabro, in the nautical institute, where he will participate, together with the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi, in the national inauguration ceremony of the school year.


   The "Tutti a scuola" event takes place within the perimeter of the institute, one of the oldest in the country, in a stage set up in front of the Tyrrhenian sea.


   The event is attended by students from various Italian schools selected for having created the best educational courses on the issues of legality and citizenship. Also present are some Olympic and Paralympic champions such as the triumph at 100 meters and in the Tokyo 4x100 relay Marcel Jacobs, Vincenza Petrilli, Stefano Raimondi, Giulia Terzi and the football player Leonardo Spinazzola, European champion in London, accompanied by the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò and the president of the Paralympic Committee Luca Pancalli. There will also be space for music and entertainment.


   Born as a nautical school in 1874, the Nautical Technical Institute of Pizzo, which currently has about 500 students, acquired the name of nautical technical institute in 1959. In over sixty years of activity it has produced leading professionalism in the sector. Here the first two female ship engineer graduates in Italy in 1964. (HANDLE).
