Where's Gabby?

This question has dominated the headlines in the US media for weeks.

Now it could have been resolved.

Charles Jones, FBI agent:

"Today remains that match Gabrielle Gabby Petito's description."

In August, Petito went on a trip to the western United States with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie.

The two posted impressions from their vacation on their social media channels.

On September 1st, her boyfriend returned - albeit alone.

Ten days later, Gabby's family reported the 22-year-old missing.

The case has attracted a lot of attention and sympathy ever since.

The body has not yet been officially confirmed to be Petito, but the FBI appears to be certain.

Charles Jones, FBI Agent:

"First of all, I would like to express my condolences to the Gabby family on behalf of the FBI and our partners."

Police found the remains in the Spread Creek Campground area in Wyoming.

The location would match the route taken by the couple traveling in a van.

Petito is said to have had the last contact with her family in late August, when she was allegedly in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

The campsite is on the edge of this national park.

In mid-August, Petito and Laundrie were noticed during a police check in the neighboring state of Utah.

The authorities published a bodycam video of it at the end of last week.

Petito is visibly dissolved in the situation, apparently there had been an argument shortly before.

Gabby Petito:

“I only cry because we argued this morning.

Personal problems."

Policeman (to Brain Laundrie):

So tell me what's going on.

Brian Laundrie:

“You know, she gets so angry sometimes.

I always try to keep my distance.

I locked the car and left. "

Gabby Petito:

“Some days I have pretty bad Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I cleaned up and apologized to him for being so mean.

Because sometimes I get so frustrated.

I don't get mean to him right away.

It's probably my vibrations when I'm in a bad mood. "

Policeman (to Gabby Petito):

“It was a minor offense, but when domestic violence comes into play it gets worse.

That just makes life difficult, especially since you're 22, right?

So I'm not going to summon you today.

So you will not be charged.

But here's what I have to do: I'll part the two of you tonight.

I want you to be at a distance this evening. "

Petito also admitted having hit her partner.

After his return, Laundrie initially refused to testify.

In the meantime he has disappeared.

The police are looking for him as a "person of interest".
