(ANSA) - TEL AVIV, 22 SEPT - Leonardo DiCaprio has recently invested an unspecified sum in the Israeli start-up 'Aleph Farms' which is working on the production of natural meat derived from modified bovine cells, an alternative to the animal one. His first steak of this type was in 2018.
The media reports that the actor - who is also a convinced environmentalist - has contributed in the round of financing for 105 million dollars started by 'AlephFarms' since last July.
The movie star also took to the field in support of Dutch alternative meat startup Mosa Meat which has been working on the same production since 2013. According to the same sources, DiCaprio is expected to become a director of both start-ups.
