Perfect chips for children (Photo: Alon Mesika, Alon Mesika)

There is no greater pleasure than crispy yellow potato chips.

But what we allow ourselves to eat out, does not always work at home.

The frying brings with it feelings of guilt, and also quite a bit of clutter.

So what's the solution?

Baked chips.

True, oven-baked fries may sound like something that claims to be the real thing, but if you follow the rules you will have crispy and delicious French fries that are not soaked in oil and children are dying for it.

The most important rule of all is to first cook the potatoes for 3-4 minutes in a pot with boiling and salted water.

This is true by the way for any (almost) recipe of oven-baked potatoes.

This way you will get soft potatoes on the inside and crispy on the outside.

And that is, hence there is no room for mistakes.

Preparation

How to make oven-baked French fries?

  • 1 Boil water in a large pot.

  • 2 Peel and cut the potatoes into sticks of the desired size (you should slice the potato into 4-5 slices along its length and cut each slice again lengthwise).

The sliced potatoes should be placed in a bowl with cold water until cooked so that they do not turn black.

  • 3 Put the potato sticks in the boiling water for 4 minutes, after which filter the potatoes from the water.

  • 4 Preheat oven to 200 degrees.

  • 5 Place the potatoes on a dry towel and wipe them well and carefully.

  • 6 Transfer the potatoes to a baking sheet with baking paper, pour over the olive oil and sprinkle a little of the salt and caijon, mixing well by hand, until all the sticks are coated.

  • 7 Put in the oven for about 15 minutes (until the potatoes are slightly golden-brown).
