"Fugueuse": a shock series on underage prostitution

2021-09-23T09:48:15.072Z

This Thursday evening, TF1 is launching the first two episodes of this French production which tells how a young girl from a good family sinks

A pretty house, loving parents, girlfriends… Léa, an uneventful teenager, dreams of dancing.

An argument with her parents, a meeting with a musician in her thirties with whom she falls madly in love and it is the beginning of hell.

Under the influence of the boy, the object of blackmail, the young girl agrees to play the escort-girls, then to prostitute herself until multiplying the passes to help the one who says to love her.

Rarely has a French series addressed the prostitution of minors.

This Thursday evening, “Fugueuse”, an adaptation of a Quebec creation launched on TF 1 as part of a special evening (at 9:05 pm), is not going all the way by tackling the subject head-on.

In six episodes, she plunges into the trap that closes on the heroine (formidable Romane Jolly), isolated, manipulated and abused, while probing the flaws in intra-family relations.

No social environment is spared

A slap in the face and, despite some clichés in particular on the world of music and particularly rap, a spotlight on this booming phenomenon (+ 70% of victims between 2016 and 2020), facilitated by the use of social networks, according to the conclusions submitted last July by the working group chaired by Catherine Champrenault, Attorney General at the Paris Court of Appeal.

In reality, prostitution would affect 7,000 to 10,000 minors its minimum.

Undoubtedly much more estimates the association “Act against the prostitution of the children” (ACPE).

A "social issue", insists Adrien Taquet, Secretary of State for Children and Families.

Because no social environment is spared.

On the screen, Léa's story is reminiscent of Manon

(the first name has been changed)

, a fragile teenager whom we met as she tries to rebuild herself after being drawn into this cycle last year.

In the wake of the series, TF 1 will also broadcast a documentary "Prostitution: teenagers in danger" (at 11:10 pm), fed by other testimonies.

From fiction to reality ...
