Representatives of the so-called "lateral thinkers" and "Reichsbürger" scene may have tried to set up their own school in Upper Bavaria.

In Schechen in the Rosenheim district, authorities have closed a privately run substitute school.

As reported by the Rosenheim District Office, around "50 children and young people from grades 1 to 9 were taught on an old farm in Deutelhausen without the required school supervisory approval."

The state school supervisory authority of Upper Bavaria has therefore stopped operations.

It is not guaranteed that the teaching content corresponds to that of a public school.

One person was "prohibited from working as a manager and teaching staff in this facility."

In the documents on the school there are references to the ideas of the "lateral thinkers" and "Reich citizens", said the spokesman for the government of Upper Bavaria, Wolfgang Rupp.

However, it cannot yet be said whether the parents of the children being taught can also be assigned to these scenes.

The facility is said to have taken in boys and girls from across the county and beyond.

How long lessons have been offered there is unclear.

According to research by Bayerischer Rundfunk, there are no corona rules on the farm's premises.

Due to the pandemic, regular corona tests are required in public schools.

Children who cannot be tested cannot participate in face-to-face classes.

According to BR, the children on the farm are apparently those "test refusers" - children whose parents are against the tests and the mask requirement.

In an interview with the BR, the head of the facility rejected the term »lateral thinker school«.

She spoke out in favor of continuing operations.

According to the district, penalties of up to 20,000 euros could then be imposed.

According to the information, an alleged foundation even wanted to conclude contracts with parents to teach their children on the farm for a fee.

In one case, one of the parents then officially de-registered the child from a state school and enrolled it in the non-approved private school.

"That was a bit stupid strategically," said Rupp.

The district of Rosenheim, as the building supervisory authority, also pointed out that there was no building permit for the building for “use for school purposes”.
