Could October already bring us the first snowflakes?

Meteorologist Dominik Jung takes a first look at the weather for the next month.

Kassel - The temperatures are noticeably cooler, instead of a shirt it is better to wear a sweater, and if you look at the trees you will quickly notice red-yellow foliage instead of lush green.

Autumn seems to have arrived slowly but surely.

But while summer weather is still beckoning next weekend *, there could be a real winter collapse next week.

At least meteorologist Dominik Jung is convinced of that.

According to the weather * expert, even snowfall is possible.

And that as early as the end of September?

"The big question mark" is behind the next week, but the first snowfalls are conceivable in the low mountain ranges.

According to this, cold and warm air masses could meet over Germany on Wednesday (29.09.2021) and ensure frosty weather.

At the turn of the month, i.e. on Friday (October 1st, 2021), temperatures of 0 to -4 degrees are to be expected at an altitude of 1500 meters - which in turn could mean the first snowflakes in the high altitudes of the low mountain ranges.

Weather in October: sharp change in temperature "unlikely"

According to wetter.net expert Jung, however, a marked drop in temperature should be classified as "rather unlikely", since most weather forecasts do not show such a change.

In general, there is “great uncertainty” and even summer temperatures are possible again in October.

By the way, the meteorological beginning of autumn was on September 1st, but the calendar beginning of autumn is September 22nd - and even at a very specific time.

Autumn begins at 9:21 p.m. sharp.

This is the equinox time this year when the sun is perpendicular to the equator.
