In the future, the iPhone may recognize anxiety, depression and cognitive decline.
According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, in fact, Apple is working with the University of California and the pharmaceutical company Biogen on an algorithm capable of using the data collected by the phone to detect elements associated with certain mental health conditions.
The project, reports the WSJ, would have the code name 'Seabreeze'.
Among the data useful for examining facial expressions, the analysis of a user's speech but also parameters already monitored currently such as the rhythm and frequency of walks, sleep quality, heart and respiratory rate.
The Apple system, reports the US newspaper, would be designed to keep all information only on the device without any sharing with the Cupertino servers.
The study is still in its infancy and the project is not certain to go through.
