Last April Prince Philip passed away at the age of 99, after many years of public publicity, and also behind the scenes.
After all, this is what happens when you are married to the Queen of England for 72 years.
The BBC aired a new documentary yesterday (Wednesday) with pictures of Philip who had never been seen before, and intimate interviews with royalty.
"At my grandfather's, what you saw was what you got. That's what I liked most about him. He always remained unapologetic, no matter where he was, who he talked to or what he did. He and Grandma were a very sweet couple," the

The family members spoke of Philip as they knew him - a loving grandfather and father, a man with a great sense of humor and a lack of shame despite the required stateliness.
And one cannot ignore the close relationship with Queen Elizabeth, who often placed him in the position of "husband of," even though his role was no less important than her own.
"I admired him mostly because he gave up a very promising military career to stand by her side and support her," Prince William said.
"They were one of the most amazing couples in the world," Princess Eugenie said.
"Grandma was able to fulfill her role with the help of Grandpa's support."

Aside from interviews that shed light on Philip's character, the film also featured images that had never been seen before.
Among other things, a video in which Prince and Queen Elizabeth announced their engagements in 1947, Philip hangs out with the young family members, rowing a boat and other hobbies that are typical of royalty and less common.
