“We feel alive,” enthuses Rachel, 50, who came to take advantage of the reopening of the beaches in Martinique on Monday, September 20, the first step in easing confinement due to an improvement in the health situation.
In force in Martinique since August 9, confinement must be adapted in several phases, prefect Stanislas Cazelles said on Monday, September 20.
In addition to the beaches, travel has been authorized since Monday within a radius of 10 km, instead of one kilometer around the home.
Since Wednesday, September 22, non-essential shops have been able to reopen while respecting the obligation to wear a mask and the gauge of 8 m2 per person. Restaurants and sports halls were also able to raise the curtain. The health pass is compulsory. It also concerns sporting, cultural and leisure activities. Employees in the sectors concerned will be subject to the obligation of a health pass from October 11.
On the other hand, the hours of the curfew remain unchanged: it is forbidden to move between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., unless there is a compelling reason.
The prefecture justified Monday the maintenance of the restrictions because of a health situation which "remains delicate with indicators above the alert thresholds and a hospital under tension".
A total of 264 people were hospitalized including 86 patients in critical care, according to figures released Monday by ARS Martinique.
According to these same figures, the island has an incidence rate of 219 (number of cases over 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants).
Three times more than the French average.
