This meme is probably familiar to everyone who has already spent five minutes on Twitter or Instagram: A little blonde girl looks at you disapprovingly and with big brown eyes and shows her buck teeth.
We are talking about "Side-eyeing Chloe", as the picture is called.
It comes from the 2013 YouTube video "Lily's Disneyland Surprise ... AGAIN!"
While Lily begins to cry, Chloe puts on the look that should become famous.
The YouTube video alone has been viewed more than 20 million times.
The image of Chloe's disdainful and worried look became an internet hit, is still used for memes to this day - and can now be auctioned as NFT.
Chloe's family has decided to auction, and it should be possible to bid with cryptocurrency.
According to the BBC, the starting price should be the equivalent of around 12,900 euros.
NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token - a virtual good that is unique and not exchangeable. Like cryptocurrencies, the system is based on blockchain technology. In contrast to cryptocurrencies, a non-fungible token is unique and to a certain extent a virtual collector's item that can be sold or exchanged using a certificate. Whoever buys the NFT of the meme does not have the rights to the picture, but a unique token of the meme. A real hype has flared up recently about NFT.
Chloe's mom, Katie, told the BBC after learning more about the NFT market that the auction was “a no brainer”: “It's a cool opportunity, especially when there's a Chloe fan out there who's making this meme loves, then he can own it, ”says Katie Clem.
Even Chloe, who is now ten, said it was cool.
In the hype surrounding NFT, another meme was auctioned off in April.
The template for the so-called Disaster Girl brought in 340,000 euros.
