Nahal David in the Ein Gedi Reserve is one of the best known in the country. And yet, whoever continues beyond the waterfalls, will get to reach the turquoise pool in the Cave of Uncles. Enter the Walla Walla route! Tourism

No, there is no hidden spring or stream in this article that "you have never seen before."

But it has amazing photos and some tips on how to get to turquoise pools that people are less familiar with when hiking in Nahal David in the Ein Gedi Reserve.

Not many know, but above the large and familiar Waterfall of David, continues a great hiking trail that includes caves full of water, which create pools in the form of baths with a turquoise color and a crazy view of the Dead Sea.

Getting there includes not a simple walk in the sun, but those who are able - will be rewarded.

"And David went up from thence"

The combination of the "turquoise" water and the desert heat is just perfect, which is what makes the route relevant in most parts of the year. The source of the water in the springs is in the rains that fall on the high mountains of Judea, seep into the cardboard and limestone rocks, and flow east - in the Judean Desert - at several points. One of them is the Ein Gedi spring, whose waters reach and form four waterfalls - the largest of which is Shulamit Waterfall - followed by the David Waterfall.

Above the Waterfall of David lies the Cave of Uncles, named after the Song of Songs (Chapter 5), where the word "uncle" is mentioned several times. According to legend, the cave was one of the escape points of David from King Saul who pursued him and wanted to kill him.

"And David went up from thence, and dwelt in the coasts of Ein Gedi"

(1 Samuel 23:26).

"And it came to pass, when Saul returned from following the Philistines, that they told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of Ein Gedi"

(Samuel 1: 1).Kad, a).

Next to the cave there is a wonderful water pool for immersion, to which a waterfall leads water, also turquoise.

So how do you get there?

Park, pay an entrance fee, and do the usual route to the Waterfall of David, from there there is an orderly ascent with signs to the Cave of Uncles.

Please note:

* You can enter the long route until 15:00 in summer, and 14:00 in winter.

* Entrance fee: NIS 28 for an adult, NIS 14 for a child.

* The route includes a not easy ascent and is very exposed to the sun, so it must be prepared accordingly in terms of heat load and amount of water.

In my opinion, the route is not suitable for small children, but everyone will make the considerations for themselves.
