(ANSA) - CATANIA, SEPTEMBER 24 - The Colombian fugitive JulioCesar Hurtado Rodriguez, accused by the DDA of the Catania prosecutor's office of being a drug trafficker, was captured in Valencia by the Spanish national police force.
He was subjected to a European arrest warrant for international drug trafficking.
It was identified thanks to investigations by the Guardia di Finanza of Catania with the collaboration and support of the Scico delle Fiamme Gialle.
The process for his extradition to Italy has begun.
Hurtado Rodriguez was among the recipients of the precautionary custodial order issued by the Gip of Catania last 25 May against 13 suspects, for various reasons, for criminal association and drug dealing. The investigations of the Pef Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Catania made it possible to disrupt two criminal gangs which, according to the accusation, marketed large quantities of drugs and seized, in total, over 367 kg of drugs, including marijuana and cocaine.
In particular, it is the thesis of the Dda Etna, the first association, promoted by two Colombian brothers, assisted by two other of their compatriots, was dedicated to the trafficking of cocaine.
The second was in turn divided into two groups: the first, made up of Albanians, imported important quantities of drugs from Albania and then resold them to organizations operating in Sicily, the second obtained marijuana to then resell it in Catania.
The investigations of the specialized anti-drug units of the Gico of the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Catania have allowed, over time, to carry out six seizures in the Catanese and in Messina for a total of 367 kg of tramarijuana and cocaine destined for the Etna market.
