Microsoft has unveiled a major extension to the Surface range of devices, all with the new Windows 11 operating system on board. The newly announced family includes the Surface Laptop Studio, Surface Pro 8, Surface Go 3, Surface Pro X, Surface Pro 7+ is the foldable Surface Duo 2, for business and the education sector.
The Surface Laptop Studio has a hinge that allows you to tilt the 14-inch display at an angle that covers the keyboard, to bring the screen closer and make typing easier.
Or it can be turned upside down and used as a tablet.
Unlike the Surface Laptop model, the screen doesn't peel off. The new Pro 8 has a 13-inch display and an adaptive color function that adjusts the white balance, to make viewing more comfortable. Microsoft said the Pro 8 gets up to 16 hours of battery life, compared to 10.5 hours on the Pro 7. The Surface Go 3 is a smaller version of the Pro, with optional keyboard and version that in addition to Wi-Fi it also integrates LTE connectivity (but not 5G). The Surface Pro X is instead a tablet based on the Arm platform with only Wi-Fi connection, cheaper than the previous one and with support for 64-bit Windows apps. The novelty of the Surface Pro 7+ is the opening to sale to all consumers, after the launch for the business sector only.
Finally, the Surface Duo 2. After the failure of the previous version, Microsoft's dual-screen smartphone boasts new cameras, 5G support, NFC and stereo speakers.
It runs on the Snapdragon 888, the same chip in Samsung's current flagship phones.
Like the 2020 version, the Surface Duo 2 opens to reveal two 5.8-inch screens that can be used together, joined by a hinge and visually separated.
Most of the new devices will be available as early as October in Italy.
