The British "Notting Hill" director Roger Michell is dead. The author and director died on Wednesday at the age of 65, said Michells spokesman on behalf of the family.
Where and from what Michell died was not known.
Michell was born in South Africa to a British diplomat and lived in Beirut and Damascus as well as Prague during his childhood.
At the beginning of his career Michell worked primarily as a theater director, later he switched to the film industry.
His best-known film is the American-British cinema production "Notting Hill" from 1999. The film is about the romance between a movie star, played by Julia Roberts, and a London bookseller, played by Hugh Grant.
Work on a Queen documentary
Michell's other works include "Venus" and "My Cousin Rachel".
Before his death, Michell was working on a documentary about Queen Elizabeth II.
Michell has been married twice and has four children.
