In the midst of movie stars, sportsmen and other illustrious personalities, the Musée Grévin welcomed on Wednesday the reproduction of a new rather unexpected star, since it is the famous Sophie la girafe.
This essential baby toy, produced in Rumilly (Haute-Savoie), entered the Paris museum on the occasion of its 60th birthday.
"It is a great pride and a real recognition for us", rejoices Éric Rossi, general manager of the company Vulli, which manufactures the small rubber giraffe of 18 cm.
A silicone statue that makes pouet pouet
The Musée Grévin has enlarged it to 1.70 m, so that children can hug it and take a picture of themselves. “We sent our 3D files to the museum's sculptor, Stéphane Barret, so that the statue is as faithful as possible to the original. Vulli employees even came from Haute-Savoie to paint the giraffe patterns. When the line was unveiled this week, we were blown away. Even the touch looks like the toy, because the statue is not made of wax but of silicone. Visitors will even have a little surprise when they approach the giraffe… It will emit the toy's characteristic toy! »Laughs Eric Rossi.
Anchored in popular culture, Sophie la girafe has left its mark on generations of young French people who cut their teeth by chewing on it.
Despite her age, the sixty-year-old remains timeless.
“The Covid has not hampered sales.
We have passed the milestone of 70 million copies sold and we export to 85 countries, says the boss of Vulli.
All this while remaining in the Savoyard region, without ever relocating the production of Rumilly.
