Dietzenbach - The Artsana company has announced a product recall: because there is a risk that babies could suffocate when using a manufacturer's lounger, customers can now return it.

Most parents know the company by a different name.

Babies in mortal danger: manufacturer recalls the couch - due to the risk of suffocation

The company Artsana Germany from Dietzenbach in Hessen sells various items for babies and toddlers under the brand name "Chicco".

One of them - it is a newborn bed - there is “the possibility of suffocation,” the company literally says.

The company has issued safety warnings about the product that are given to customers with every purchase.

If these are not followed, however, newborns could be at risk when using it.

Choking hazard - if cot is not used properly

That is why the company decided to recall the newborn loungers with the name "Boppy Hug & Nest".

"Hug & Nest was only sold for use when the baby is awake and supervised," the company said.

So far, Artsana has not had any information about actual accidents or hazards from using the lounger.

It is therefore a voluntary recall.

Because there is a risk of babies being harmed in some specific cases that Artsana describes.

Baby bed recalled: Has been sold for five years

The product has been sold in Europe since 2016.

Artsana insists that it has long been pointing out the danger if the item is not used as the manufacturer explains in its safety instructions.

In the event that these are not observed, there is a real risk for small children.

The lounger can only be used when the baby is awake and supervised.

However, if the newborn is sleeping and rolling or moving on the bed, it can be dangerous.

Even if the mat is placed in such a way that the airways are not clear, the child can suffocate.

Artsana also describes the danger "if the baby rolls from the cot onto another surface, such as an adult pillow or a soft blanket that prevents breathing".

Choking hazard for babies: customers can return the lounger

Parents who have bought "Hug & Nest" should no longer use the bed to protect their children.

To be on the safe side, it is worth taking a look at the Chicco homepage.

You can contact Artsana by phone or email to get the purchase price back.

Customer service can be reached on the chargeable telephone number 01805/780005.
