(ANSA) - MADRID, SEPTEMBER 24 - The inhabitants of three places on the island of La Palma (Canary Islands) that the authorities recently asked to stay at home due to the increase in the eruptive activity of the Cumbre Vieja volcano have now received an evacuation order .

The order applies to Tajuya, Tacande de Abajo and part of Tacandede Arriba, fractions of the municipality of El Paso.
The authorities have not yet provided data on how many new displaced people are.
In the last few hours the activity of Cumbre Vieja has intensified: the Canary Institute of Volcanology has explained that a new eruptive point has opened on the flank of the active cone.
