Mélenchon-Zemmour debate: audience record for BFMTV with 3.8 million viewers

The debate between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Éric Zemmour produced an audience hit on BFMTV. The news channel is at the top of the list.

In front of the political program of France 2 and especially in front of TF 1 and all the other channels… This Thursday evening, the debate between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Éric Zemmour on BFMTV achieved a historic success.

The show hosted by journalists Aurélie Casse and Maxime Switek attracted 3.8 million viewers, or 19% of the public in front of its television.

The continuous news channel thus takes first place among audiences, all channels combined: it is only the second time since its creation in 2005 that it has thus taken the top step of the podium.

The previous record dates from April 4, 2017, the day BFMTV broadcast a debate between the eleven presidential candidates, moderated by Ruth Elkrief and Laurence Ferrari.

That evening, the channel had totaled 5.5 million viewers (and 28% audience share).

With this very tense debate between the leader of rebellious France and the possible presidential candidate, BFMTV is thus ahead of TF 1 and its series of events on adolescent prostitution "Fugueuse" (which brought together 3.6 million people and 18% of audience share), the American series of M 6 ("9-1-1") or even the magazine "Un jour un destin" of France 3 devoted to Jean-Jacques Goldman.

It also crushes France 2 and “Élysée 2022”, the new political program presented by Léa Salamé and Thomas Sotto: the interview with Valérie Pécresse was seen by only 1 million people (and 5% of the public).

“Élysée 2022” performs very poorly and is even beaten by “Camping 3”, which has attracted 1.1 million people on TMC.
