(ANSA) - AOSTA, 25 SEPT - The border police arrested a Moroccan citizen residing in Spain at the Mont Blanc tunnel in Courmayeur. The man, who is now in Brissogne prison, was arrested last night as he tried to bring two Afghan refugee families to France.
Aiding in illegal immigration the accusation in his confrontations.
The man was driving a minivan and six other people were traveling with him, five adults and a minor, all Afghan citizens. The refugees had arrived in Italy, in Fiumicino, at the end of August with the evacuation operations of Afghanistan.
Having applied for international protection and lacking a passport, as required by the rules on asylum seekers, they could not go to France.
The driver was thus arrested, while the two family units were entrusted to the Italian Red Cross of Aosta for reception.
