Meng Wanzhou, the financial director of the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei released a few hours ago by a judge in Vancouver, has left Canada and is flying to China. The 49-year-old daughter of Ren Zhengfei, Huawei's founding billionaire, was reportedly caught on Canadian TV as she boarded a flight to the city of Shenzhen. The release came after an agreement with the US Department of Justice to suspend bank fraud charges and a request to extradite Meng Wanzhou from Canada, who was arrested on December 1, 2018.
Two Canadian citizens detained in China since 2018, Michael Kovrig and Michale Spavor, have been released from Beijing and are about to return to their homeland.
This is just hours after the US reached an agreement to release Lady Huawei, Meng Wanzhou, who in turn is returning to China.
