US actor Michael K. Williams, who played drug dealer Omar Little in the HBO crime drama "The Wire," died of a drug overdose.
That was found at the autopsy.
His death was an accident, said Julie Bolcer, a spokeswoman for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner, in an email.
Williams, 54, was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment on September 6th.
According to the police, there were drug paraphernalia at the scene.
"The cause of death was determined by the coroner to be acute poisoning from the combined effects of fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, heroin and cocaine," says Bolcer.
She declined to comment further on the investigation.
Williams' colleagues remembered his special talent for humanizing the characters he portrayed by bringing his own experiences as a black man who grew up in New York to his roles.
The struggles in real life also included drug addiction, which he embodied in his most famous role in "The Wire".
During his career, Williams received Emmy nominations for appearances on HBO's "Bessie," "The Night Of," and "Lovecraft Country."
