(ANSA) - ISLAND OF PALMA, 25 SEPT - The airport of the island of Palma, in the Canary Islands, has been closed due to the accumulation of ash released by the Cumbre Vieja volcano which has been erupting for a week.
This was announced today by the company that manages the Spanish airports (Aena).
Seven flights were canceled yesterday due to soot.
Furthermore, violent explosions near the volcano, and the formation of a cloud of ash of considerable size, had led the authorities yesterday to order the evacuation of several neighborhoods in the city of El Paso.
