In a train accident in the United States, at least three people were killed on Saturday afternoon (local time).
Several passengers were injured.
As the railway company Amtrak announced, a long-distance train with about 146 passengers and 16 crew members on board derailed in the state of Montana.
"We are deeply saddened to learn that the local authorities have now confirmed that three people were killed in this accident," said the company.
Amtrak is working with local authorities to transport the injured passengers and employees and to get all other passengers to safety.
According to Amtrak, five wagons of the train derailed near the town of Joplin in northern Montana.
According to Amtrak, the train consisted of two locomotives and ten wagons.
Videos posted on online networks and distributed by local media showed cars that had jumped off the rails, with at least one car lying on its side.
The New York Times reported, citing authorities, that at least 50 people were injured.
Many passengers were taken to the nearby high school in Chester, according to television station CBS News.
The train connects Chicago and Seattle.
