Several dogs attacked and seriously injured a jogger on a dirt road in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The 58-year-old had to be operated on in a hospital on Sunday evening, as the police announced on Monday.
Accordingly, the woman was knocked over by four Briards around 6 p.m. on a field path in the Borchen municipality in the Paderborn district and bitten all over her body.
The seriously injured woman was able to drive home in her car.
Then she was taken to a hospital by relatives.
There the doctors found several deep bite wounds and other significant injuries.
The 58-year-old stayed in the clinic.
Dog owner threatens criminal proceedings
The investigators initiated criminal proceedings for negligent bodily harm.
The Borchener Ordnungsamt and the Veterinary Office of the Paderborn district were also involved.
According to the 63-year-old pet owner, he had taken his four dogs off the leash on his car so that they could jump into the vehicle.
At that moment the dogs attacked the woman.
Briards are herding dogs originally from France, which are also considered good guard or medical dogs.
They are often used in competitions or as rescue and therapy dogs.
They have a strong protective behavior and, according to breeders, need consistent and experienced owners.
