As announced by DHL, prices are to rise, especially for heavy parcels. The parcel service explains the price increase with a lot of investments. The expansion of the parcel center in Aschheim near Munich is cited as one reason. Markus Söder recently broke ground for the project. In addition, DHL writes in a press release about the expansion of its digital service offering on the Internet. Another reason has to do with climate protection: DHL has invested a lot of money to enable CO2-neutral parcel delivery. The company has already achieved this in almost half of its delivery districts - with the help of e-mobility.Recently, DHL took another step towards climate protection with the purchase of electric aircraft.
Expensive parcels with DHL - the carbon footprint is one reason
The press release literally states: “On the one hand, increased transport and personnel costs make the price adjustment necessary.
On the other hand, the Deutsche Post DHL Group continues to invest massively in the expansion of its infrastructure in order to support the growth of its business customers and to process the increasing parcel volumes as reliably as before, ”the parcel service provider writes literally.
DHL increases package prices - the last price increase was in 2020
The company has not yet announced how much prices will rise.
With the latest price increase by DHL - on January 1, 2020 - the price of parcels and parcels rose by an average of three percent.
This step was also explained with significant cost increases as well as improvements in quality and service.
This regulation also explicitly applied to private customers.
This time it's different, but consumers could also feel the price increase.
Private customers should pay the same prices, at least officially

Consumers should even benefit from the price increase.
For example, because DHL wants to expand its Packstation network.
Around 12,500 of these machines are to be set up in Germany by the end of 2023.
