(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 28 - Three Polish regions decided to cancel the resolutions, voted in 2019 as part of a narrow general on the rights of homosexuals, which they declared free from the "LGBT ideology". The BBC reports it.
Almost 100 regions in Poland approved similar measures two years ago, sparking the EU's reaction that accused the country of violating the laws against discrimination. The European Commission then threatened to block up to € 126 million in funding for five large Polish regions if they did not remove the resolutions. Yesterday Podkarpackie, Lubelskie and Malopolskie erased them following the example of another region, Swietokrzyskie, which did so last week.
The reaction of the Minister of Justice, ZbigniewZiobro, who defined the move of the European Commission as a "blackmail".
Homosexual relationships are not legally recognized in Poland.
In July, the EU opened an infringement procedure against Poland and Hungary for violating the rights of the LGBT community.
