In Austria, a tanker driver is said to have embezzled around 800,000 liters of fuel for five years.
The Austrian news agency APA reported that the financial damage to the Tyrolean petrol station concerned was around 1.5 million euros.
According to the police, the now 50-year-old had supplied a gas station in Kufstein with fuel between 2016 and 2021 - and billed the whole amount.
However, he is said to have given part of the agreed amount to another gas station in the Kufstein district, which resold the fuel.
According to the police, the tanker driver was able to refuel free of charge at the petrol station he was supplying illegally.
