The operations to remove the cabin of the Stresa-Mottarone cable car that

crashed on May 23, causing the death of 14 people and the wounding of a 5-year-old child, Eitan, the only survivor,

will start on 11 October

. The remains of the cabin will be removed with a fire brigade helicopter. The date of the intervention was decided in court in Verbania, during a meeting with the consultants of the parties involved. To raise the cabin, 80-100 trees will be cut to allow the helicopter to operate safely.

And there is a new witness in the investigation into the Mottarone disaster. According to what has been learned, this is a former employee of the cable car who spontaneously presented himself to the investigators last June 7, reporting that in the past he had already talked about some "situations" regarding the operation of the plant. To corroborate his story, the man had delivered the audio file of a conversation with two colleagues (one of whom is Gabriele Tadini, head of service, today the only suspect under house arrest) dating back to 2019.

Today, during the hearing before the review court, prosecutor Olimpia Bossi, with a surprise move, deposited a reproduction on CD.

The defendants asked to be able to listen to the file in its entirety also because, according to what has been learned, a complete transcript of the interview was not made: there are only some excerpts contained in a scam developed by the judicial police.

The judges agreed and adjourned the hearing for tomorrow.
