In the fourth quarter (October-December)

the electricity bill will increase by 29.8% for the typical family in protection and the gas bill by 14.4%

.

This was announced by the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment, communicating the increases that have started on Friday.

"The extraordinary dynamics of the prices of raw materials towards historical highs and the high prices of CO2 emission permits, would have led to an increase of more than 45% of the electricity bill and of more than 30% of that of gas", explains Arera, who intervened thanks to the Government's emergency decree which allocated the necessary resources.

The Energy, Networks and Environment Regulatory Authority intervened by temporarily canceling the general system charges in the bill and strengthening the social bonus for families in difficulty, thanks to the Government's emergency decree which allocated the necessary resources, thereby making it possible to mitigate the impact on 29 million households and 6 million micro-enterprises. For over 3 million households entitled to discount bonuses for electricity and for 2.5 million benefiting from the gas bonus, according to the ISEE, the tariff increases were substantially eliminated by the decree.

For electricity in 2021, the annual expenditure for the typical family will be around 631 euros

, with a variation of + 30% compared to 2020 (corresponding to an increase of around 145 euros on an annual basis), says Arera by calculating the final effects of the increases on the bill.

The annual expenditure of the typical family for the gas bill in 2021 will be approximately 1,130 euros, with a variation of approximately + 15% compared to 2020 (corresponding to an increase of approximately 155 euros on an annual basis).

In comparison with 2020, the particularly low prices observed during the pandemic period must be taken into account.

For electricity, in fact, the annual expenditure of 2021 is about 13% higher than the pre-Covid one of 2019, while for gas it has substantially returned to the levels of 2019.
