US, no debt ceiling increase global financial crisis

(ANSA) - NEW YORK, OCTOBER 06 - Without an increase in the debt ceiling there will be a global financial crisis, in the face of which the United States will be powerless.

This is the warning launched by the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

Undefault would have repercussions on global financial markets and would likely create a collapse of the markets themselves: "Companies around the world will have to start cutting jobs."

   In this context, the risk is of a subsequent recession worse than that of the 2008 financial crisis in many countries that have not yet emerged from the pandemic.
