Every employee who has ever been on sick leave knows it: the certificate of incapacity for work (AU) *.

With the “yellow certificate”, employees prove to their employer that they are ill and cannot perform their contractually stipulated work.

In return, they will continue to receive wages.

In the first step, the doctor's practice sends the electronic certificate of incapacity to work (eAU) to the health insurance company.

For practices that are not yet technically equipped accordingly, there is a transition period for the conversion until December 31, 2021. From July 1, 2022, the health insurance companies should then also forward the eAU to the employer.

to employers and health insurers.

technology

will not be available in time for all practices and health insurances. This is reported by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV). In addition, medical practices and health insurance companies have their

hands full

with the

corona pandemic

. Therefore, the KBV agreed with the Federal Ministry of Health and the health insurance companies that the mandatory date will be postponed by three quarters. The date for the second step of the changeover, the dispatch of the eAU from the health insurances to the employers, was initially planned for January 1, 2022. (as)
