Covid-19 in France: 17 new deaths in 24 hours, nearly 6,700 hospitalized patients

Some 26 Covid patients have joined critical care services, reserved for the most serious cases, since Friday.


The latest data from the health authorities still bear witness to the positive evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic in France.

With 128 new admissions in 24 hours, hospitals welcomed 6,706 patients this Saturday, against 6,805 on Friday and 7,294 seven days ago.

Among them, 1,127 patients are treated in critical care services.

They were 1164 the day before and 1325 a week earlier.

Some 26 people have joined these units reserved for the most serious cases since Friday.

Almost 117,050 deaths in total

Public Health France also lists 17 deaths linked to Covid-19 that have occurred in hospital over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 117,046 deaths since the start of the epidemic in the country.

Globally, the pandemic has killed at least 4.83 million people since the end of December 2019. The United States is the most bereaved country with 712,646 deaths, followed by Brazil (600,425), India (450 127) and Mexico (281,121).
