(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 08 - "Over one million and two hundred thousand Italian citizens ask that finally it be possible to decide not to have to impose suffering against the will of the patient anymore as an unbearable torture. To finally be able to decide between clandestine euthanasia that already exists in Italy and the legal one made up of rules, responsibilities, knowledge, obviously assistance for those who want to live and respect for the decision that decides no longer want it ". This was stated by Marco Cappato, of the Luca Coscioni association, speaking outside the Supreme Court where the signatures for the referendum on legal euthanasia will be deposited today. "The signatures were collected in the silence of the leaders of the big parties" but the people who signed "experienced this problem," he added. "I hope that politics realizes why the referendum is not made against parties and politics but is a tool to help them get in touch with social reality and with people.
Party politics is self-referential ". Cappato then added:" we are offering the opportunity to deal with an issue that concerns people.
It is not time to play games but to respect democracy which is not just made up of electoral marketing ". (ANSA).
