The 2,021 German Hot Air Balloon Championships are currently underway in Tegernsee, southern Germany.
The 25 best balloon pilots in Germany compete in different events over five days.
Friday took place what is called the Fly-in.
Pilots must place a cloth attached to a sandbag as close as possible to a mark on the ground, in this case a cross.
Everyone will have to find their ideal height in order to get as close as possible to the cross, explains the organizer and president of the German hot air balloon association, Andreas Baus.
“And I believe it will only be inches that will decide the winner.

Baus said that alongside the big business ventures there are also serious sports balloonists like him who are passionate about ballooning.
And like in any other great sport, it's all about the gear and skill of the pilot, serious money can be involved in the sport.
The name of the big winner is not yet known because the competition lasts until Sunday.
