Hunter explained in a video series: "So many people in my comments want to know how I gave birth at age 6. I will answer you - the easy answer to this question is that I did not give birth when I was six. I recently applied for guardianship over my sister because our father died in 2015 "And her mother died a few months ago. And I thought the best way to keep my sister safe, happy and address all her needs and desires was to go through several countries and come live with me."

She later shared: "I'm 21, a student and working full time, but I'm still putting Gracie's good before mine. "I'm glad to be sitting here and seeing how much she smiles when she leaves school with all her friends."

Hunter also referred to the question of why she decided to share online her experience of what it is like to be a guardian at such a young age: "Another question I got was whether it's legal - yes, it's one hundred percent legal. In North Carolina at the age of 21 I went and applied for guardianship and got it through the court."

Hunter explained that it is difficult to be a guardian at 21 - especially since she feels she can be easily ignored.

"Some people don't take me seriously, I'm 21 years old growing up and only graduated from high school three years ago," she said.

However, she added that she wants to help and inspire others who are in similar situations to hers by sharing her experience.

"A lot of young people have responded and said that they too are raising teenagers or young children. I think it is very interesting to see other people going through similar situations."

Thousands responded to her videos, with many praising Hunter for taking on so much responsibility and a teacher who came across her post reassured Hunter that she was already doing a great job adding: "You may be surprised, but I have some students whose siblings have guardianship over them and are the best parents." .
